Opportunities and Challenges of Live Video Interviewing: Experiences from across Seven Major UK Social Surveys

This paper investigates the use of live video interviewing, focussing on opportunities and barriers, and collating evidence and experiences from seven major social surveys in the UK, with an emphasis on longitudinal surveys.

The publication is part of an ESRC-funded collaboration project in the UK on survey data collection methods called Survey Futures, with Research Strand 3 focussing on live video interviewing. The work was also supported by SDC-Net, hosted under NCRM and the Video Interviewing Methodological Special Interest Group.

Final report

SDC-Net published its final report in January 2024. The report onlined the activities of the network between December 2021 and April 2023. The title of the report is Survey Data Collection Network (SDC-Net): The impact of Covid-19 on survey data collection methods in the social sciences.
