Description:

Reproducible Pipelines for Social Scientific Research in R presented by Dr Daniel De Kadt

Reproducibility is a key pillar modern social scientific research. It is both good scientific practice to use analytical pipelines that can be easily assessed and run both by oneself and by others, and increasingly necessary for publication in leading social scientific journals.

In this workshop we offer an opinionated introduction to reproducible pipelines – from raw data through results and documents – for social scientific research, focused on the R statistical computing language.

The workshop will be a mix of delivered material focused on theoretical principles of reproducibility and their application in R, and practical coding practice and exercises. We will include perspectives on folder structure, data storage, package control, scripting and modularisation, document creation, and version control, among other topics. While the workshop will be largely introductory, we will also suggest more advanced tools for reproducible pipelines.
