Exploring Work, Employment and Income through National and European Datasets
The webinar will focus on secondary, quantitative data. It will take place on Teams on the 9th of December from 12:00 – 13:30. The speakers will be:
- Pierre Walthéry who will introduce key datasets and instruments available at the UK Data Service to study work and employment, with a particular focus on the Labour Force Survey. Key aspects of employment participation will be explored, including economic activity, employment status, working hours, occupation and earnings.
- Van Phan who will discuss the newly-linked ASHE-HMRC PAYE and Self-Assessment dataset, exploring how linking ASHE and PAYE data addresses gaps in understanding labour market changes in the interval between annual ASHE surveys. This linkage enhances insights into earnings, labour market transitions and provides a comprehensive view of individuals with multiple income streams, improving our understanding of how people interact with the labour market in Britain.
- Jule Adriaans who will utilise European Social Survey Round 9 data to examine perceptions of justice and fairness in Europe, addressing the question, “How (un)fair is workers’ pay across Europe?” This talk will showcase how the European Social Survey aids in understanding attitudes toward work, employment, and income.
This webinar will be chaired by Anthony Rafferty.
Each talk will be followed by a quick-fire question-and-answer slot.
