This seminar is an introduction to Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence methods for the social, economic, and health sciences using R. After introducing the subject, the seminar will cover the following methods: (i) model selection and regularization (Lasso, Ridge, Elastic-net, and subset-selection models); (ii) discriminant analysis and nearest-neighbor classification; and (iii) artificial neural networks. The course will offer various instructional examples using real datasets in R.
