Qualitative Data Analysis Skills for Social Researchers
01/11/06 - 31/01/09
Under RDI funding the CAQDAS (Computer Assisted Qualitative Data AnalysiS) Networking Project had three core aims:
- To enhance the skills of systematic analysis of qualitative data amongst social science postgraduates, social researchers, and social science methodology instructors.
- By means of a defined programme of events to improve the capacity of the UK social research skills base, particularly in handling larger qualitative datasets, applying more systematic analytic procedures, and more fully exploiting non-traditional datasets comprising visual image, direct digital audio, and multimedia data.
- To encourage the delivery of better-founded, more transparent, and more reliable analysis of qualitative research data as a foundation for the application of social science in academic and applied research.
During the course of the project 50 events were organised; 25 short courses, 11 seminars, 12 Masterclasses, CAQDAS 2007 conference and a Qualitative Resources Session at the RMF 2008 – a total of 956 people attended these events. Please see http://caqdas.soc.surrey.ac.uk for more information.
