Advanced Research Training in Finance
01/04/10 - 31/03/13
The programme will provide advanced level training in the subject of finance for research students, supervisors and other researchers at UK Universities. The programme will comprise two one-week residential modules each year for three years. Each module will cover a particular core area in the subject of finance, including asset pricing, corporate finance and financial econometrics. Each module will comprise five days of intensive training, with each day given by an internationally recognised expert in his or her respective field. These experts will be drawn from the UK and overseas. The topics covered during the week will address different theoretical and empirical aspects of the particular core area. The training will comprise a combination of lectures, small group discussion sessions and computer-based practical work. Building on existing training provision that is delivered at the individual institutional level, the programme will expose research students and early-career researchers to state-of-the-art research methods in finance and provide an opportunity for participants to exploit recent developments in their discipline for the benefit of their research careers. By helping to build research capacity in the subject of finance in UK Universities, the programme will have a lasting impact on the quality of finance research undertaken by institutions in the UK, and on the relative importance of this research globally.
