It became one of the most influential social science methodology books of the late 20th and early 21st centuries and for many, one of the more controversial. Drawing on a symposium published in 'The International Journal of Social Research Methodology' (19:1, 2016), this keynote session is please to present Cicourel in conversation with a group of noted methodologists about the continuing challenges and relevance of his arguments.
